Goducate Project Leaders Training – Finally we meet and dream together!

Last week, Goducate project leaders from 6 Asian countries gathered in Singapore for the first Goducate Project Leaders Training. Most of these are men and women who lead teams of Goducate volunteers in the countries where they serve.

For some it was the first time to hold a passport and leave their country. These were dear men who had been so busy serving in their Goducate projects and have never had the opportunity to leave their country. For many it was their first time to get to meet other Goducate project leaders and Headquarters Coordinating staff.

But for all it was the first time that we could spend time learning from each other and be challenged by others to dream BIG! For most project leaders, it was often a struggle just to get enough funds to support themselves and their projects. Survival rather than expansion was the priority.

But we were reminded constantly throughout the training that we have to dream BIG because Asia has a big population and the majority are poor in need of help to help themselves. The project leaders who had dreamt big and expanded their ministries shared their stories and encouraged the others.

Many Goducate supporters and volunteers joined the project leaders for the training sessions.

Goducate is a non-profit organization that needs many more volunteers to help!
Please volunteer!

More volunteers and supporters for Goducate!

Last Saturday, 50 Indians visited the Goducate office to find out more about it.

This group of men had earlier heard about Goducate from their leader who had tried to explain to them about it aims and projects. We have discovered that, even after explanation, many people do not really understand what Goducate is and what it does.

I think this is because Goducate is not your typical non-profit organization. Not too many Asia-wide organizations focus on education as a tool to help poor Asians help themselves. Most Asia-wide charity organizations are usually more into disaster relief work (eg. earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons or cyclones). And, on the other hand, charitable educational organizations are usually more local, rather than Asia-wide, in their scope.

After spending almost three hours at Goducate office, I believe they left with a far better understanding of what it is and what it does. In fact, before they left the office, these fifty men committed to support and help Goducate!

I hope that many other groups/organizations will visit us and, then like our Indian friends, eventually be a part of the Goducate “team.”

As a new non-profit organization, Goducate needs many supporters and volunteers.

Wanted urgently!

Goducate is a new non-profit organization. It has yet to develop a culture. But it cannot develop the right culture until it has the right core-team. In any organization, its people are critical to its success. A new non-profit organization has no rich share-holders, large assets, valuable patents or brand-name products. Therefore, the quality of its people is even more critical.

Goducate urgently needs people who are PASSIONATE to help the helpless help themselves. Passion is what drives a non-profit organization.

Goducate wants to help poor Asians to help themselves. More than half of the world’s population live in Asia, and most of the poor people in the world live in Asia. Therefore Goducate needs PLENTY of people with a passion to help the helpless.

Unlike countries in other continents which share commonalities (“Christian” Europe, “Protestant” North America, “Hispanic” South America, “Black” Africa, “White” Australia), Asia is very diverse racially, linguistically, culturally, religiously, economically, politically, etc. Therefore, to help the helpless Asian help himself will require plenty of passionate people who are CREATIVE.

If you have a passion to help others help themselves, please contact me at paulchoo @ goducate . org

I look forward to sharing with you my passion – and who knows, this might be your first step to being a part of building bridges of love to Asia’s billions?
